Minjiang University is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary undergraduate university credited by the Chinese Education Ministry. It is located in the historical city of Fuzhou, in Fujian Province which is situated along the southeast coast of China . Authorized by the State Council, it has the right to confer undergraduate degrees to students in china. In 2003, it has been granted the honor title ”Fujian Civilization University.”

Minjiang University’s main campus is located in Fuzhou University Town, very close to the Jin-Fu highway, at the foot of Qi Mountain of Shangjie District, Minhou County of Fuzhou City. The university has other 3 branch campuses located in the Gongye Road, Changle Road and Hongtang Road.

By the autumn of 2005, the University`s main campus covers an area of 25 hectares with a floor space of up to 370,000 square meters. The scenery of the university is very beautiful, with modern constructions and natural environment benefiting to a picturesque surroundings, featuring the modernization and local culture. The university has successively had a series of architecture cluster----Teaching Building, Lab, Administration Building, Culture and Gym Center, Library. The university also has Corridors of Fujian Local Arts, Fujian’s Academicians, Lacquer’s Art and Stone Inscriptures’ Art. Because of all these, it is currently considered as one of the largest and the most advanced universities in Fuzhou’s University Town.

Endowed with a pleasant climate, picturesque surroundings and a favorable academic atmosphere, Minjiang University is an ideal place for teaching, research, and learning. As the result of painstaking efforts by several generations of faculties and graduates inspired by the school motto: “Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection,” the university conducts subject orientation for the building up and development of itself, and persevere in the educational goal “cultivating people to meet the need of development”. The university is a comprehensive university whose fields of study cover 15 branches of learning, namely Chinese Language, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Physics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Tourism, Management, Garment and Art Engineering, Art, Geography, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, History, Law, Public Economics and Finance, Music, including 45 specialties for undergraduate studies and 38 professional studies and an Automobile Department which will be set up in the future. Besides, there are Adult Education College, Software Training Base, IEN-Start Institute (co-operated with the Australian IEN-International Education Group) and Fuzhou Fashion College. By the end of June 2005, the number of students in Minjiang University was over 15,000.

Minjiang University has a faculty of 750 members, and more than half of them are associate professors or senior researchers. Also, there are over twenty foreign teachers from America, Canada and Australia. In the last three years, the university has enrolled over 140 masters, doctors, associate professors and professors to strengthen its faculty quality. Moreover, the university has invited some famous experts such as Mathematical Academician Lin Qun and Astrophysicist Chen Jiangsheng, the President of Korean’s Garment Academy: Professor Sheng Shuguang and tens of other famous experts and scholars who came as visiting professors.
Minjiang University has consequently established cooperation programs with universities in Australia, Thailand and Taiwan Province.

With a total space of 20,000 square meters, the university’s library has a collection of more than 600,000 volumes and a large amount of E-Resources like CNKI, VIP, WanFang Database, SpringerLinks, HI-WAY, etc. The library has a comprehensive operating system with a variety of sources: students may find information through the online database and the network resources.

At the turn of the century, based on the principle of “ settling in Fuzhou and facing the world”, Minjiang University will continue to give priority to education and research, offer service to the nation's economic development and make every effort to build itself into an high-class and distinctive university.
