MJU lays equal importance to introducing senior human resources and training its own talents, and adheres to the policy of bringing them into full play. The school's personnel policy and system have been improving in training, employment, evaluation, and encouragement of its staff. Among its staff members, over 50% have received master's or doctor's degrees, and nearly 40% enjoy senior professional titles. The school has also invited 10 academics, including mathematician Lin Quan and astrophysicist Chen Jiansheng, as well as a Korean professor of garment and textile as visiting professors.  
 

  MJU always maintains its academic policy that teaching is its major task, while scientific research is also valued.Since 2002, the university has gained over 70 authorized scientific research projects of provincial(ministry)level and over, 5 of which are national projects of "863" plan; 7 of which are national natural scientific fund projects; and one of which is national social scientific fund project,and has won more than 50 scientific and research achievement awards issued by the provincial and municipal governments and above, and more than 10 authorized patents.The university has published more than 120 scholarly works and over 3500 theses, more than 70 of which have been included in the three big retrieval systems such as SCI, closed at the end of 2009. The declared and authorized project representing Fuzhou -"The Coating Skill of Fuzhou Bodiless Lacquer" of the school's art department, has been on the list of national nonmaterial Cultural Heritage, one of the first batch issued by the State Council. In 2007, "Minjiang University Journal" was appraised as "Ten top local university Journals in the country".
