Founded in April 2025, the School of Cyber Science and Engineering is a key initiative of the university to deepen the reform of integration of science, technology and education. Based on the former Department of Information Security and integrated with high-quality faculty resources from the School of Computer and Big Data, the School aims to open a brand-new chapter for the development of cyber science and engineering discipline and promote the innovative development of the distinctive talent cultivation system for applied universities.
The School currently has 16 full-time teachers, including 3 professors, 6 associate professors / senior engineers, 2 doctoral supervisors and 9 master supervisors. The faculty includes 1 talent of Hebei 21st Century San San San Project, 1 Fujian Provincial High-level Talent (Class B), 3 Fujian Provincial High-level Talents (Class C), and 1 talent selected into Fujian Provincial University New Century Excellent Talent Support Program. In addition, the School is equipped with complete experimental and research conditions, including a comprehensive cyber security range laboratory, a data security laboratory and other core professional laboratories.
Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the School serves the national cyberspace security strategy and the strategy of building a strong cyber nation. It is committed to cultivating information security professionals with distinctive features of four strengths: strong political literacy, strong security awareness, strong professional foundation and strong practical ability. Adhering to the fundamental task of moral education, the School requires students to achieve all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor education, establish sound socialist core values and professional ethics, and become qualified builders and reliable successors of socialism. Meanwhile, it focuses on cultivating students with systematic and solid theoretical foundation and professional knowledge in information security, excellent capabilities in cyber attack & defense and software development, sound physical health, deep patriotism, broad global vision, agile innovative thinking and sustainable competitiveness, so as to foster outstanding engineering applied talents capable of engaging in scientific research, technological R&D, engineering application and security management in the information security field.
Information Security is the core major of the School. Its distinctive highlight is the establishment of the Experimental Class of National Cyberspace Security Talents and Innovation (Fuzhou) Base. The class recruits outstanding freshmen majoring in Information Security and implements small-class elite teaching. It carries out joint cultivation with national first-class schools of cyberspace security, and receives professional guidance from the Cyberspace Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee. Tuition-free policy is provided for 45 outstanding students, who are taught by the best faculty. The teaching integrates joint teaching seminars with cyber security practices, aiming to cultivate high-quality applied talents with solid theoretical knowledge, acute cyber security awareness, outstanding attack & defense practical abilities and capability of solving practical problems.
Graduates are qualified for planning, design, development and operation & maintenance in the field of network and system security, and will become applied backbones with strong engineering practical abilities and sustainable independent learning capabilities.
The School boasts broad employment prospects. Graduates can work in state organs, public institutions, important national functional departments, information technology enterprises, financial institutions, communication operators and other fields, engaging in research, design, development and management of information security.
