Founded on July 4, 2009, the School of Strait Studies of Minjiang University is the first institution approved by the Department of Education of Fujian Province to carry out the cross-strait university joint undergraduate talent training program. It took the lead in launching the cross-strait university cooperative education program for undergraduate-level, systematic study in Taiwan in China, which has special significance of pioneering and pilot practice in cross-strait higher education exchanges. Since 2011, the School has become the first institution in China to undertake the Sino-US undergraduate international curriculum education program, and is an important window for Minjiang University's cooperative education.

I. School-running Achievements and Scale

As of July 2025, the cross-strait joint training program of the School has sent 13 batches of graduates, totaling 5,606 students, and the number of students who have studied at cooperative universities in Taiwan has reached 3,982. The Sino-US program has delivered 11 batches of graduates to the society, totaling 2,273 students.

II. Party Building and Talent Cultivation

Centering on the work idea of making red characteristics and leading diversity with mainstream values, the Party Committee of the School takes the normalization and long-term development of learning new ideas as the main line, takes the Red May and Love October theme education months as the starting points, and takes Party Building + Volunteer Service and Party Building + Innovation and Entrepreneurship as the practice platforms. It carries out the Red Heart Cultivation Plan for Communist Youth League members, the Red Heart Tempering Plan for Party activists, and the Red Heart Forging Plan for Communist Party members, builds the Red Crag Nursery drip-irrigation style Party member education brand, explores a new talent cultivation model under the cooperative education mechanism, and is approved as one of the first batch of Fujian Provincial Model Party Building Colleges for cultivation and construction. Adhering to the fundamental task of moral education, combining the characteristics of cooperative education, the School gathers the joint force of talent cultivation, and strives to cultivate applied talents with international vision, family and country feelings, and both red and professional qualities.

III. Major Construction and Education System

Through professional cooperation and phased curriculum connection with cooperative universities, the School introduces high-quality curriculum systems and international faculty, and builds four core education systems: the liberal education system centered on Elegant Life, the English teaching model centered on IELTS Education, the ability training system centered on TRIZ Innovation, and the industry-university cooperation system centered on Applying What You Learn.

In terms of major construction, on the basis of the original 2 cross-strait demonstration projects (E-commerce and Environmental Design), the School added 4 cross-strait higher education integration and development demonstration projects in 2023: Finance (ranking first), Business Administration (ranking second), Advertising, and Accounting. In 2025, 2 majors of the cross-strait cooperative project, Environmental Design and Advertising, were recognized as Demonstration Projects of the Department of Education of Fujian Province.

IV. Cross-Strait Exchanges and Research

Giving full play to its platform advantages, the School actively promotes cross-strait educational and cultural exchanges. On the cross-strait project platform, teachers from cooperative universities in Taiwan have taught at the School for 1,002 person-times, and 423 teachers have given online courses. The number of faculty members of the School who have taught, furthered their studies, visited and conducted academic exchanges at universities in Taiwan has reached 143 person-times. At the same time, relying on the Institute of Cross-Strait Higher Education Cooperation and Exchange and the Institute of Cross-Strait Industrial Integration and Development, the School strengthens cross-strait exchanges and Taiwan-related research, and promotes the integrated development of cross-strait education.

V. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education

Highlighting the characteristics of internationalization, innovation and entrepreneurship and cross-strait integration, the School adheres to the direction of applied talent cultivation, absorbs and learns from the characteristics of the education systems of cooperative universities, focuses on promoting students' professional innovation ability through college students' professional competitions, and systematically carries out promoting innovation through competitions and integrating cross-strait resources, forming a cross-strait characteristic innovation and entrepreneurship education model with students as the main body, mutual benefit between teachers and students, teacher participation and multi-party support.

In the past three years, students of the School have won 210 national and provincial awards above the third prize in disciplinary competitions. In the past six years, they have won 3 national gold awards, including the 7th China International Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the 2023 China International College Students Innovation Competition, and the 9th Create Youth China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Rural Revitalization Special), 6 national silver awards, including the 8th China International Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the 2024 China International College Students Innovation Competition, and 11 national bronze awards, including the 14th Challenge Cup China College Students Entrepreneurship Plan Competition.

In the future, the School of Strait Studies will always attach great importance to the Integration culture, adhere to the development path of cross-strait integration and industry-education integration, and continuously contribute to the construction of a first-class applied university.
