Application Information for International Students (Undergraduate) of Minjiang University in 2026
I. Introduction to Minjiang University
Minjiang University is a full-time regular undergraduate institution of higher education approved by the Ministry of Education, located in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province. In 2002, Fuzhou Teachers College (founded in 1958) merged with Minjiang Vocational University (founded in 1984, incorporating Fuzhou Arts and Crafts School in 2001) to form Minjiang University. In 2010, Fujian Conservatory of Music, founded by the patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Cai Jikun, was merged into Minjiang University.
The University boasts a glorious tradition of education. General Secretary Xi Jinping, during his tenure in Fuzhou, concurrently served as the President of Minjiang Vocational University for six years (June 1990 – May 1996), creating invaluable theoretical, practical, and institutional achievements. On March 25, 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected the University and delivered an important speech, infusing the soul of conviction, providing the source of motivation, and charting the course for the University's reform and development in the new era.
Minjiang University has evolved into a highly-regarded application-oriented undergraduate university with a comprehensive range of disciplines and considerable influence. Its academic disciplines cover eight major categories: Economics, Law, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Management, and Fine Arts. Three of its disciplines rank among the top 1% of ESI (Essential Science Indicators) globally.
Currently, the University has approximately 17,000 full-time students. It employs over 1,000 full-time faculty members, of which 96% hold master's degrees or above, and over 48% possess doctoral degrees. The University is home to 246 national and provincial-level talents (including flexible recruitment), and 14 provincial-level teaching and research teams. The campus covers a total area of more than covers over 2,000 mu (about 133.3 hectares). The total value of teaching and research equipment amounts to 659 million yuan, with a collection of 2.1362 million paper books and 3.0726 million electronic books.
Adhering to an open education strategy, the University has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 50 universities overseas, including those in the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia. In partnership with European University Cyprus, it co-founded the International Digital Economy College of Minjiang University, a non-legal-person Sino-foreign cooperative institution at the undergraduate level.
II. Application Requirements
1.Non-Chinese citizens aged 18–30 (as of September 1, 2026), in good health, holding a valid foreign ordinary passport. Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a Guardianship Guarantee Letter (Template download link: http://mju.liuguanbao.com/Apponline/files/GuaranteeLetter.docx).
Note: In accordance with Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, persons born abroad with foreign nationality at birth shall not have Chinese nationality if both or one parent is a Chinese national and has settled abroad. Starting from 2021, such applicants applying for undergraduate studies as international students must, in addition to meeting other admission requirements, hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for 4 years or more, and have actually resided abroad for at least 2 years within the latest 4 years (as of April 30 of the admission year). Actual residence abroad for 9 months or more in one year may be counted as one full year, subject to entry and exit stamps. The exit-entry administration authorities of China’s public security organs will conduct nationality verification. Applicants who fail the preliminary nationality review or nationality verification shall automatically forfeit admission qualification.
2.Hold a high school graduation certificate with good academic records in secondary education.
3.Possess an HSK Level 4 certificate or above, or pass the language proficiency test arranged by the University.Graduates from high schools where Chinese was the main language of instruction throughout secondary education may apply for exemption from submitting the HSK certificate upon providing valid supporting documentation.

IV. Application Procedure
Log on to the Minjiang University International Student Admission Application System (http://mju.liuguanbao.com) and complete the application according to the instructions in the Application Guidelines section on the system interface.
V. Application Materials
1.Application Form: Scanned copy of the Minjiang University International Student Application Form (to be completed in Chinese or English; signature can be electronic)
2.Personal Photo: Electronic copy of personal photo (to be uploaded as required by the admission system).
3.Passport: Scanned copy of the personal ordinary passport photo page (passport valid for at least 3 more years).
4.Health Certificate: Scanned copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (to be uploaded as required; valid for 6 months).
5.Highest Degree Certificate: Scanned copy of highest academic diploma (at least senior high school level,notarized in Chinese or English).
6.Academic Transcripts: Scanned copy of complete academic transcripts of the highest education (at least senior high school level, notarized in Chinese or English).
7.No Criminal Conviction Certificate: Scanned copy of Certificate of No Criminal Record (to be uploaded as required by the admission system).
8.Financial Proof: Scanned copy of financial guarantee documents (bank statements of immediate relatives from the past six months).
9.HSK Certificate: Scanned copy of HSK certificate (to be uploaded as required by the admission system).
10.Recommendation Letter: Scanned copy of one letter of recommendation (issued by the institution of the applicant’s highest education).
11.Personal Statement: Personal statement (in Chinese or English) covering impressions of China and Minjiang University, academic and work experience related to the applied program, and study/research plan. Relevant academic achievements or publications should be included.
12.Parents’ identity documents: Scanned copies of valid identity documents of both parents.
Note:Applicants are not required to mail original paper documents. Minjiang University reserves the right to request original documents for further verification under special circumstances. All submitted documents will not be returned regardless of admission result.

VII. Admission and Registration
The university will conduct preliminary review of application documents and interview shortlisted candidates. Offers will be issued based on comprehensive evaluation of documents and interview performance. Applicants are required to keep their email accessible.
VIII. Length of Study and Degree Awarding
Length of study: 4 years
Valid study period: 4–6 years
Students who complete all required credits, pass the thesis (design) defense, and meet graduation requirements within the valid study period will be awarded an undergraduate graduation certificate. Those who meet the requirements for a bachelor’s degree will be conferred the corresponding bachelor’s degree.

2. Accommodation Fee
Double room (with private bathroom, air conditioner, water heater): 2,600 RMB/academic year.
3. Other Fees
On-campus card deposit, physical examination fee, residence permit fee, etc. Actual fees shall prevail.
4. Living Expenses
Students are responsible for their own daily living expenses.
X. Scholarships
1. Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students
The amount is 30,000 RMB per year, which includes tuition fees, accommodation fees, insurance premiums and living allowances (valid for one academic year). The monthly living allowance is 1,260 RMB for liberal arts students and 1,110 RMB for science and engineering students, paid for 10 months per year. Applicants can submit a written application to their respective schools. We will select the outstanding candidates and submit them to the Education Department of Fujian Province for final review.
2.Minjiang University Scholarship for International Students
This scholarship is available to international students who have not received the Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship. It covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, insurance premiums and living allowances. Living allowances are divided into three tiers, assessed according to HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) scores, and paid for 10 months each year. Students may submit a written application to their respective schools after enrolling and paying all required fees for each academic year. The scholarship will be disbursed upon approval by the university.
3. If the above scholarship recipients violates the laws and regulations of China, or the rules and discipline of our university, we will terminate their eligibility for scholarships or suspend part of the scholarships according to the relevant provisions of Interim Measures for the Management of Scholarships for International Students (Undergraduate) of Minjiang University.
